Contest, My Interesting Internet, secures first 20 applications

My Interesting Internet, a nationwide information security contest for families, sponsored by the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ, began receiving applications on September 10. Over 20 entries have already been filed.

The contest aims to draw attention of children and adults alike to the ethical and safe use of the Internet, as well as to promote positive web-content that simulates education and development among children and teens.

Young people under 17 and entire families are invited to take part. Those wishing to join are asked to shoot a video, write an essay, make a poster or create a comic on one of the following topics:

  • “Bad” and “good” websites and how to recognize them
  • How I helped others resolve an issue online
  • My rules on safe online conduct
  • What is personal data and why we should protect it?
  • Social networks in my life
  • Pirate content and pirates: IT-heroes or anti-heroes?
  • The Coordination Center has also announced a special topic: Internet of Things. Work on this theme will secure additional points at the 4th Explore the Internet & Govern It! All-Russia Online Championship that will kick off on November 1, 2017.

    Applications are to be emailed to wbl-konkurs@rgdb.ru until December 10, 2017. An expert review will be made by an impressive jury that includes Andrey Vorobyev, director of the Coordination Center.

    The results will be announced on February 6, 2018 as part of the Cyber Security Forum 2018. Winners will receive certificates and useful gadgets.

  • The contest is co-sponsored by the Russian State Children’s Library, the .ДЕТИ (children) domain, and the Ne Depusti! Foundation, with support from the Internet Development Foundation and LitRes.
