Over July 2017, competent organizations sent 621 requests to registrars to suspend delegation names. Classification of domain violations over the reporting period indicates that the largest number of violators distributed malware (388 requests), followed by phishing websites (228 requests) and botnet controllers (5 requests).
Pursuant to the requests, 609 domain names were blocked during the reporting period. Twelve domain names were not blocked as administrators of some websites promptly removed the violating elements while the remaining websites had been blocked by hosting providers earlier. In 11 cases, delegation was restored upon a petition of the respective competent organization once the grounds for blocking were eliminated. Currently, 598 domain names remain unavailable.
Full report of the competent organizations can be found here.
In 2012, the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ started cooperating with organizations competent in exposing internet wrongdoings. The said companies provide CCTLD and accredited domain name registrars with information on websites with illegal content, websites involved in phishing, unauthorized access to information systems and distribution of malware via .РФ and .RU domain names. Registrars are entitled to suspend domain name delegation for such websites.
Currently, CCTLD works with eight competent organizations, including Safe Internet League, Group-IB, Kaspersky Lab, RU-CERT, the Regional Public Center of Internet Technology, the Federal Supervision Service for Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media, BIZon and the Bank of Russia. Any online user can report inappropriate use of domain names to any of these organizations’ hotlines and receive an immediate response.
