On June 27, Troitsk hosted the 28th International Conference on Modern Information Technologies in Education on practical use of new information technology in education. The theme of the conference in 2017 was the application of IT to vocational education for school students.
The conference included seminars, workshops and roundtable discussions on introducing IT to the education system, an exhibition of software solutions and other events. The presentation on the game Explore the Internet & Govern It! was delivered as part of the breakaway session Extracurricular Education: Current Forms, Technologies and Projects by Tatiana Novikova, senior project manager at the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ, and Viktoria Bunchuk, head of the Smart Internet Foundation (the .ДЕТИ domain). The speakers focused on the game’s structure, functioning and educational opportunities, and shared their experience of creating an engaging and useful educational resource. Viktoria Bunchuk also spoke at the session E-School, E-City, E-World about educational projects in the .ДЕТИ domain zone.
The conference’s participants received manuals compiled by the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ in association with the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media that give an insight into how to teach children the basics of keeping their personal data secure online and highlight the need to respect privacy online. In addition to that, participants learned about how their students can take part in Explore the Internet & Govern It! online game national championship.
