Coordination Center for .RU/.РФ remains focused on children’s projects

International Children’s Day is an important occasion for the Coordination Center for .RU/.РФ. Many of the CCTLD educational projects are intended precisely for children and teenagers. Thus, thousands of children from various parts of Russia participate in the Explore the Internet & Govern It! national online championship. Children, and not just adults, send in their entries to the Positive Content contest. CCTLD experts give lectures and conduct workshops at schools. This year, as usual, the center prepared a series of events for children.

On May 31, a roundtable meeting, Encouraging the Creation of Positive Content for Children and Youth on the Internet, was held as part of the Russian Electronic Academic and Research Network Association (RELARN)’s School Sector event, which was organized by the Smart Internet Foundation (.ДЕТИ registry) in cooperation with the CCTLD. During the meeting, the CCTLD presented Positive Content 2017 contest. School Sector teachers took an active part in the previous contests.

On June 1, CCTLD representatives attended ceremonies marking the anniversary of the Smena All-Russian Children’s Center in the Anapa resort along with some 2,000 other guests from all over Russia. The program included the Doors Open Day, the opening of the summer season, and the inauguration of the Alley of Military Glory and Park of the Future. More than 50 interactive venues were available for the guests.

The CCTLD conducted a quest, Explore the Internet & Govern It!, based on the project of the same name. The audience answered questions of various degrees of complexity about the history of the internet, online safety rules, websites and chief IT services. Both the winners and participants received souvenirs and CCTLD booklets that will help beginner users to improve their IT literacy.

CCTLD senior manager Tatyana Novikova presented some of the CCTLD social projects and invited schoolchildren and teachers to participate in Positive Content 2017 and the DOT-Journalism: Young Correspondents contest for young internet-reporters.

During a separate meeting with the Smena staff, the CCTLD experts explained how to use the Explore the Internet & Govern It! portal, mobile application and quest for lessons with children vacationing at the camp. In addition, a number of projects were discussed with the camp’s administration, on which the CCTLD is ready to cooperate year round.
