Interaction with competent organizations will facilitate self-regulation of the industry

The business forum “Sviaz 2017. The Founding Stone of Digital Transformation: State, Society, Business” took place on April 25 and 26 as part of the Sviaz (Communications) 2017 expo. The forum focuses on the digital transformation of state services, public institutes and businesses. Participants discussed general trends, strategic initiatives and programs implemented on the governmental level, the advanced experience of switching to innovative digital models and processes, as well as the opportunities provided by contemporary information and communication technologies, products and solutions for the implementation of such initiatives.

Denis Zhilin, head of social and public projects at the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ, spoke at the panel Security of Information and Cyber-Physical Systems. He talked about the role of the center in providing security on the internet at the level of coordinating agencies using the examples of competent organizations that cooperate with the center, as well as the Netoscope project on cybersecurity. Zhilin also focused on projects aimed at improving the safety of those who just began using the net, touching upon social projects of the Coordination Center, in particular, the .ДЕТИ top-level domain.

“We think that it is very important to cooperate with competent organizations in detecting violations, because it is a mechanism of self-regulation at the level of the internet industry and at the same time the opportunity to counteract violators without involving law enforcement agencies,” Zhilin added.

Tomorrow, on April 27, the Russian Association of Networks and Services (RANS) will also discuss information security at its fifth youth forum, Ethical, Cultural and Civilizational Aspects of Work on the Internet. The forum will take place as part of the Big Media Communications Forum. Viktoria Bunchuk of the Smart Internet Foundation will deliver a report, Social and Educational Projects Aimed at Improving Digital Literacy of Users. She will speak about the current stage of the Explore The Internet & Govern It! online competition.
