Positive content on Runet supported by the state

On April 26, the 8th International Safe Internet Forum kicked off in Moscow, with support from the Ministry of Communications and Mass Media, the State Duma Committee on Family, Women and Children’s Affairs, the Interior Ministry, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The forum organizer is the Safe Internet League, one of the competent organizations that cooperate with the Coordination Center for TLD .RU on cybersecurity. The Coordination Center traditionally supports the forum and is acting as a partner of the 2017 forum.

This year’s forum is devoted to child safety in the information space and measures necessary to achieve it. Among the main topics on the agenda were the safety of children and teens on the net, information security in educational organizations, the technology of internet content filtering, the specifics of personal data processing and digital integration.

Director of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU Andrey Vorobyev spoke at the opening of the forum. He talked about the center’s project .ДЕТИ (Children), which is designed as a place for children’s and youth websites on the internet and internet self-regulation. “The prohibitive paradigm is not the most efficient way to fight information that adversely affects the development of children. It is gratifying that the forum participants support the idea of replacing negative internet content with positive material. For a long time, only the industry itself was engaged in promoting the creation of positive content on the Russian internet, but this support was not of a systemic nature. Today we can see that the government responds to society’s request and prepares ambitious programs to support and develop positive content on Runet,” he said.
