The roundtable discussion, Creating a Culture of Information Security, was held on the second day of the Russian Association of Networks and Services (RANS) conference, Providing Confidence and Security in IT Use. Participants in the discussion talked about the educational aspects of ensuring trust and safety when using the internet, as well as the improvement of personnel training and retraining, the development and implementation of ethical codes of conduct for internet users, and interaction with schools.
The discussion was attended by Denis Zhilin, head of social and public projects at the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ. Referring to Coordination Center projects aimed at working with children and young people, Zhilin told the audience about the work conducted to create a personal information environment with regard to psychological safety, and the establishment of an information security culture in an environment of growing information confrontation. He spoke about the Learn the Internet, Govern It! national competition and the Positive Content competition of websites for children and youth.
“Social and educational projects allow us to speak to teenagers and teachers directly, to teach them how to use the net safely, improve digital literacy and trust the internet in general. We are confident that these are necessary skills given the current situation, and they will help children use modern information technologies safely,” Zhilin said.
