Safe Internet Month, a national campaign devoted to IT security for children and teenagers and improving their digital literacy, is taking place in Russia from February 7 until March 7, 2017. The campaign is organized by the Safe Internet League and co-sponsored by the Coordination Center for TLD RU.
As part of this initiative, the Coordination Center for TLD RU will hold a series of Learn the Internet and Manage It! online contests in Moscow schools. The contest focuses on various aspects of online security, such as malicious activity in virtual environments and ways to resolve these issues, personal data and protecting confidentiality when using IT, etc.
The 2017 DOT Journalism annual contest for young reporters will also be held during this month. It targets young online journalists who want and love to write about the internet. Articles, video and radio reports will be accepted on the contest website until March 7.
In addition, during Safe Internet Month schools across the country will hold lessons on safe internet use, as well as meetings with parents to teach them how to ensure IT security for their children. There will also be creative contests and quests for school and university students, and a number of professional events with a special focus on preventing suicide and children and teenagers from falling under the influence of destructive cults.
The results of Safe Internet Month will be summed up at the Internet Security Forum that will take place in mid-March.
