The Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ, the Foundation for Internet Development (FID) and the Federal Institute of Education Development have published a teaching aid titled The Practical Psychology of Security: Online Personal Data Management. This second edition of the book was prepared with substantial support from the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor).
“Personal data about children appears online in a variety of ways. It is posted by children or their parents and friends. However, experience shows that a substantial amount of personal information about minors appears online due to improper personal data management at schools,” Antonina Priyezzheva , deputy head of Roskomnadzor and a co-author of the book, writes in the foreword.
The book is designed to enhance the literacy of school students and teachers in the sphere of online personal data management. It provides analysis of the theoretical and methodological aspects of protecting the right to privacy and personal data on the internet. The book is primarily designed for school teachers, but it will be also useful for other education staff as well. Teachers can use this book at school to introduce their students to the principles of internet safety and personal data management and safe and secure online behavior. Adults working at schools and other educational establishments will find the book’s recommendations useful too.
“The Practical Psychology of Security: Online Personal Data Management has the same goal as the Coordination Center’s contest titled Positive Content. Both projects focus on underage internet users as one of the most vulnerable categories and aim to encourage Russian teachers and students to protect their personal data by learning simple online privacy protection rules,” said Andrey Vorobyev, Director of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ.
