The organizers of the Study the Internet, Govern It! educational project for school students, the Coordination Center for TLD .RU and Rostelecom announced the results of the 2016 competition, which was held from October 18 to November 18, 2016.
In 2016, all tasks and questions of the online competition were devoted to internet security – protection against network threats, data privacy and security in social networks. Ahead of the competition, a new category, Personal Information Protection/ Personal Data, was added to the Knowledge section of the project site to teach school students about the safe use of personal data on the internet and data privacy when using digital technologies.
The 2016 competition brought together 15,000 school students from across the country, 10,000 of which competed in individual contests, and the rest united in 568 teams. The organizing committee received about 100 additional entries, the authors of which demonstrated original thinking, hard work and a cheerful nature. These entries did not make the ranking, but the enthusiasm and creativity of students deserve special mention. The winners were awarded certificates and valuable prizes.
