The IT-marathon, a number of tournaments organized by the Moscow Department of Information Technology, will start at Moscow schools on October 24, 2016. The marathon aims to make school students more IT savvy, help them learn more about internet security, and promote stable interest in choosing a career.

The tournaments will be held throughout the academic year and will conclude in April 2017 with a final competition featuring the city’s best teams.

Participation is reserved for 10-member teams of 5th to 11th grade school students. A school can only send one team. The team must register for next year’s sixth Learn the Internet and Manage It! national online championship (registration opens in 2017).

Each tournament of the IT-marathon includes the following assignments:

  • computer case assembly/disassembly;
  • local network set-up;
  • Learn the Internet and Manage It! internet knowledge quiz.
