The updated Terms and Conditions of Domain Names Registration in domains .RU and .РФ came into force on October 6, 2016. The rules were modified and extended by a July 28 decision of the Council of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ, after amendments to Federal Law No. 149-FZ of July 27, 2016 “On Information, Information Technology and Data Protection” took effect.
The changes concern the domain name stop list. The names of websites that were permanently banned in accordance with the law will be placed on the stop list to prevent attempts to re-register the domain name and to protect bona fide users from choosing a domain name whose functionality will be limited due to the ban.
