Application deadline extended for “Learn the Internet and Manage It!” national online championship

The application deadline for the “Learn the Internet and Manage It!” 5th national online championship for school students has been extended until October 18.

The championship dates have also changed: individual and team events will begin at 12:00 (noon) Moscow time on October 18 and conclude on November 18.

This year, all championship tasks and questions are dedicated to internet security, such as internet security threats and counteracting cybercrime, data protection and safe social networking.

The online championship is part of the “Learn the Internet and Manage It!” educational project for school students sponsored by the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ. The project also features an educational module which allows schoolchildren to learn about the structure of the internet while playing games, and basic IT services and online safety. It also features a mobile app to develop new skills.

The project is to improve the online literacy of young internet users, promoting knowledge about the World Wide Web and teaching users online etiquette.

Winners will receive digital devices that can be used for both studying and gaming. Thus, gold medal winners will receive an Xbox 360 console; silver medalists will receive Microsoft Lumia 540 Dual SIM smartphones and bronze medalists will be awarded Black Fox BMP 104 mobile power banks.
