Another contest of school internet projects is announced

Classroom Internet is a contest of school internet projects organized by national telecommunications operator Rostelecom with information support from the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ. The contest aims to identify the best internet technology projects that will benefit society. Projects should promote the use of internet technology in career guidance and can be submitted by both school students and teachers.

Projects (websites and website pages, social media communities, and PC and mobile applications) that have been implemented and have online links can be submitted at Rostelecom’s website www.safe-internet.ru from October 1 through December 23, 2016. Entries can be sent in by individuals and groups. Winners will receive certificates and prizes.

A leading telecommunications operator, Rostelecom has launched this contest to promote compliance with current IT penetration standards in general schools. The priority goal of the contest is to encourage students to address practical tasks that will benefit society through the use of modern information and communication technology, ICT instruments and open sources of information.

Another priority for the contest organizers is to enhance the reputation of school teachers and encourage them to keep teaching students to put their IT skills into practice.

Projects can be submitted in three categories:

IT- Career Guidance

  • Projects on vocational training in a given profession;
  • Projects that introduce internet technology to interaction between school students and their potential employers (businesses, professional courses, enrolling at universities, etc.).
  • IT- Interaction

  • Career guidance projects that involve interaction with similar groups from other schools, universities, vocational training centers, etc.
  • Projects on direct online vocational training with chosen professionals.
  • IT- Assistance

  • Projects that go beyond the limits of school education to enhance public accessibility of popular social, education or cultural services in a given city or town, in the course of which project participants can acquire professional skills they will be able to use in future;
  • Projects that encourage student involvement in collective efforts to address urban or social issues, including career guidance.
  • “Internet has become an inalienable part of life for many students, on a par with education. Interaction, the online search for and use of information, and education and instruction resources have become so attractive and accessible that internet has been known to overshadow real life, which is not good at all. However, this doesn’t mean that internet is bad. It is only an instrument that can be used for your benefit or to your detriment. I’m sure there are computer geniuses with enviable internet technology skills among high school students. This contest will give them a chance to realize their talents,” said Yuliana Sokolenko, Deputy Director of the External Communications Department at Rostelecom.

    The official website of the contest is www.safe-internet.ru.

    The official email address where you can write to ask about the conditions, procedure and any other information about the contest is konkurs@safe-internet.ru.
