The IT session “Young IT Scientists and Teachers” has wrapped up at the Klyazma Terra Scientia Russian Educational Forum. It was attended by a thousand young IT experts. Minister of Communications and Mass Media Nikolai Nikiforov was the guest of honor. He told the audience about the current status of IT technology in Russia, measures to ensure its security and the development of computer literacy in the country. He answered questions from young experts about different IT events that took place in the past few weeks. “We have witnessed a real revolution when communications and IT technology is changing the traditional life styles in many industries,” he said. Other guests of honor included Leonid Levin, a deputy and the head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, IT Technology and Communications, and German Klimenko, a presidential advisor and the chairman of the Internet Development Institute (IRI).
“IRI was established to enable us to cooperate with other industries in the best way. How fast Russia will move along the road of developing its Internet economy depends on us. In my speech at last year’s Terra Scientia, I said it was attended by people who will develop a new, promising economic area in the future. I believe that your efforts can turn Russia into a global economic leader,” Klimenko said.
“For us, citizens, this is already a reality in which we live. A key mechanism for implementing government policy in this area is an increase in the role of scientific and technological activities and the development of the IT industry and related branches by involving young specialists. Importantly, every participant in the Terra Scientia forum can get involved in the Russian IT industry,” Levin said.
Director of the Coordination Center for TLD RU Andrey Vorobyev spoke as an expert at the case study during the third session. Experts from IRI, ROCIT (Russian IT Public Center), Rostelecom and the Kaspersky Lab, to name a few, helped participating teams develop projects and put their ideas on the right track.
