Internet business owners show interest in domains

The last event of the annual seminar cycle, Site Formula, took place in Moscow on June 15. The free seminars have been held for the fifth time, sponsored by 1C-Bitrix with support from Yandex, Mail.ru, and Vkontakte. From mid-April, the program was also supported by the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ.

The events took place all over Russia, from Moscow to Vladivostok, with the theme, Site Formula: From Idea to First Profits. The Coordination Center’s experts spoke to audiences in six cities, highlighting ways to use a domain name to boost profits, steps to take if the site is blocked and ways to avoid falling victim to Internet fraud. Attendees showed interest in site owners’ rights and duties, legal points of registration and the use of domain names, as well as legal cases involving domain name disputes.

Director of the Coordination Center Andrey Vorobyev, who spoke at a number of events, noted the positive feedback from seminar audiences, who asked a lot of questions, and were actively engaged in the discussions. This highlights the need for such events, he said, and shows that the subjects raised are relevant.

Vorobyev also said that the audiences were eager to learn more about domains, while the participation of the center's experts promoted digital literacy among owners of Internet businesses.

“Meetings like these help us better understand which domain name-related issues are more relevant for Internet entrepreneurs from Russian regions. Those attending the Site Formula events are active Internet users, who are actually the driving force behind the Internet in Russia. The expertise of the Coordination Center, particularly in the field of Internet law, is, in my opinion, very useful to our audiences. I think the center will continue to take part in these events in the future,” Head of the Department for Special Projects at the Coordination Center Yevgeny Pankov said.
