On May 23, the Institute of Internet Development (IID), the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ and the Foundation for Information Democracy will hold the IT + Sovereignty forum, which will feature a discussion on the results of the implementation of President of Russia Vladimir Putin’s instructions related to the import substitution of software and hardware.
The forum’s agenda will cover the role of information security in ensuring state sovereignty. The key aspects of a draft law on VAT for foreign IT companies will be developed during a closed-door meeting.
The forum will be attended by Presidential Adviser and Chairman of the IID Council German Klimenko, Chairman of the State Duma Committee for Information Policy, Information Technology and Communications, member of the IID Council Leonid Levin, Deputy Minister of Mass Media and Communications Alexei Sokolov, Russian Association for Electronic Communications (RAEC) Director Sergei Plugotarenko, Director of the Center of Internet Technology Sergei Grebennikov, Director of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ Andrey Vorobyev, President of the Foundation for Information Democracy Ilya Massukh, as well as other government officials and representatives of large Russian IT companies and related associations.
“We will bring together in a roundtable discussion business leaders and government officials to explore concrete steps towards developing the Russian software and IT technology, and will see what needs to be done to boost the import substitution process,” German Klimenko said.
