On April 29, the founders of the Coordination Center for TLD RU held a regular General Shareholders’ Meeting. They decided to suspend the authority of the center’s Council members ahead of schedule, and appoint new ones instead in line with the new principles of its formation. Now each of the founders is represented in the Council by two members, one of whom is an Internet expert. Under the new rules, the Council also includes the center’s director and two CC representatives: one employee and one Internet expert.
The participants endorsed the provisions on the Coordination Center Council, the regulations on forming the Council and the procedures on convening a General Shareholders’ Meeting. Under the new rules, Internet experts will be rotated every three years. As before, the Council provisions grant the right of veto to a representative of the Ministry of Сommunications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation.
The participants confirmed the center’s participation in the activities of the following Russian and foreign organizations: ISOC, ICANN, СENTR, APTLD, ITU, ccNSO and the Russian Association of Networks and Services. They also elected the Audit Commission and appointed Nikolai Maltsev its chair.
The center’s Director Andrey Vorobyev noted the continuity in the election of new Council members. “Half of the Council members either took part in the work of the Council or are employees of the center,” he said. “In other words, they know our industry inside out and the Council will start working in full swing from the very start. At the next Council meeting, we plan to discuss such complicated issues as draft amendments to the rules for registering domain names in the .RU and .РФ domains, and will ask the Council to specify the center’s budget for 2016.”
