An open tournament based on the online game Learn the Internet and Manage It! was held on the second day of the RIF+IBC 2016 Russian Internet forum. Almost 150 pupils from 15 Moscow schools took part in five competitions of the tournament. Director of the Coordination Center Andrey Vorobyev joined in one of the competitions, though not as a competitor.
The forum had a special children’s zone where young players could take part in the tournament, have some rest, drink tea with sweets and chat. Pupils met with adult participants in the RIF and learned about the life of Internet gurus.
The results were announced following the tournament. First place went to the 10th grade team from Vostochnoye Izmailovo School No. 1811, which scored 62,800 points. The 10th grade team from School No. 1368 ranked second with 43,774 points, and the 8th grade team from School No. 1288 came in third with 40,940 points.
“Learn the Internet and Manage It! is one of the Coordination Center’s favorite projects. I think it is a real and significant contribution by the Coordination Center to improve digital literacy in our country. This year, we’ll be holding the fifth national online championship together with Rostelecom and inviting pupils and students from all over Russia to take part in it,” Vorobyev said.
Registration for the fifth Learn the Internet and Manage It! Russian online championship is available on its official website, игра-интернет.рф, and will last until September 30, 2016.
Learn the Internet and Manage It! is a popular social and educational project which aims to raise digital literacy among young Internet users. By participating in the competition, children learn more about the structure, functions and opportunities of the Internet. The 2015 championship attracted the largest number of participants ever – over 15,000 people from all parts of Russia, including Crimea.
