On April 6, 2016 the office of Coordination Center for TLD RU hosted an ICANN webinar, featuring an update on the IANA Stewardship Transition and on the outcomes of ICANN55 Public Meeting, held in Marrakech in March 2016. It was the first time that an ICANN webinar was conducted in Russian.
Taking part in the webinar were Mikhail Yakushev, ICANN Vice-President for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Alexandra Kulikova, ICANN Manager for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Andrey Vorobyev, Director of Coordination Center for TLD RU, Leonid Todorov, APTLD General Manager, Mikhail Medrish, Director of Internet Support Foundation and EURALO board member, as well as Wolfgang Kleinwachter, Professor at the University of Aarhus in Denmark. Mikhail Yakushev delivered a detailed presentation on the progress and current state of IANA Stewardship Transition. This issue was covered in great detail at the Marrakech ICANN meeting, and the webinar participants were quick to bring up this issue again. Experts received questions not only from Russia, but also from neighboring countries, including Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
All experts who took part in the webinar are expected to attend the 7th Russian Internet Governance Forum (RIGF 2016) that will take place April 7 in Moscow. This year, Professor Kleinwachter will deliver the keynote address titled “Micro- and Macrocosmos of Internet Governance.”
