The TLD RU Coordination Center has held the first meetings of two new committees formed in late 2015. The Legal Regulation Committee met on March 3. The participants approved the committee’s regulations and elected its chairman. Dmitry Afanasiev, head coordinator of the Expert Council of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technology and Communications, became chairman of the Legal Regulation Committee. The participants discussed the establishment of an arbitration at the Coordination Center. Following the discussion, it was decided to recommend CC Director Andrey Vorobyev to work on this issue in accordance with the new draft law on arbitration. The participants also discussed the committee’s business plan for 2016 and the participation of the committee members in upcoming industry events, such as RIF + CIB 2016. The next meeting of the committee on legal regulation will take place on March 31.
The Committee on Intellectual Property met one week earlier on February 26. Its participants discussed the committee’s rules of procedure and outlined the future work plan. In addition, the participants heard a report on the project for implementing the ISNI identification system. The committee decided to continue to discuss the committee’s rules and business plan at the next meeting to be held on March 16. The committee of registrars is working more actively now. A standing working group to discuss interaction between the registrars and the Coordination Center and Technical Center of Internet, as well as to promote the registrar community, was established at this committee. The working group meets once a month at the Coordination Center. Its next meeting will be held on March 10. A meeting of the registrars’ legal services will take place at the Coordination Center on March 15.
“Over the past few months, the Coordination Center has created four new committees on intellectual property, legal regulation, infrastructure and Internet governance. They are now operational, and I think they will soon come up with new and exciting activities for the Coordinating Center. The committees include renowned experts, representatives of civil society and the state. Thus, we enlist the participation in the Coordination Center of representatives of various organizations," Director of the Coordination Center Andrey Vorobyev said.
