Netoscope discussed at Inforforum-2016

On February 4, the National Information Security Forum, Infoforum-2016, opened in Moscow, where participants will discuss the main problems of information security in Russia, methods of combating cybercrime and creating information security systems. Infoforum assists Russian experts in information security in improving their interaction and in their search for ways to achieve a high level of national information security.

The forum included a meeting, Problems of International Information Security and Legal Regulation of Information Security, which was co-chaired by Director of the Coordination Center for TLD RU/РФ Andrey Vorobyev. Together with Presidential Special Representative for International Cooperation in Information Security Andrei Krutskikh, they held one of the most important discussions of the forum, which aroused great interest among the participants, so much so that the hall, where the meeting took place was filled to capacity and, so late arrivers had to stand in the doorway.

Andrei Krutskikh spoke about the threats faced by governments and people in post-industrial society. He stressed that security cannot be achieved if a country does not ensure its technological sovereignty. He enumerated current information security threats in the network and focused on issues of international information security and international cooperation as part of combating cybercrime.

Today, it is vitally important to ensure information security not only by the government and law enforcement agencies, but also through network self-regulation. This is the main goal of the Coordination Center’s Netoscope project, which involved the Runet’s largest companies, including Kaspersky Lab, Group-IB, Yandex, Mail.ru, Rostelecom, ROCIT and the Technical Center of Internet, in scientific and technical cooperation and the fight against cybercrime.

Head of the Netoscope project Pavel Khramtsov spoke about the project, especially about scientific cooperation between famous Internet companies in malware data exchange. He demonstrated the process of collecting and processing data about domains, seen in illegal activity and fighting malware domains.

Coordination Center Director Andrey Vorobyev called the Netoscope one of the brightest and most successful examples of the industry self-regulation. “Netoscope shows how cooperation between large companies can reduce the number of malicious resources. We’ve collected a wealth of information on the use of Russian domain names for illegal purposes. The project is being joined by new companies – and this will promote the fight against cybercrime.”
