The Internet Support Foundation, established by the Coordination Center for TLD/RU, joined the International DOI Foundation (IDF) in 2015 as a General Member.
In 2015, the Foundation focused on implementing and promoting the Digital Object Identification (DOI) technology in Russia at the initiative of its Director, Mikhail Medrish. The project started with a study into the possibility of using the DOI technology for creating registries of digital objects in Russia. The decision to join the IDF is another step in this direction, providing the Foundation with an opportunity to launch the system for DOI registration in pilot mode.
The International DOI Foundation (IDF) is a not-for-profit membership organization established in Delaware, USA, on October 10, 1997. It is the registration authority of the digital object identifier in accordance with ISO 26324 and its agreement with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
