Director of Coordination Center for .RU TLD: Positive content is our contribution to the future

Director of the Coordination Center for Russia’s national TLD Andrey Vorobyev delivered a report at the NeDopusti! (Unacceptable) International Conference, which took place on December 7 at the Internet Initiatives Development Fund (IIDF). The event was organized by ROCIT (Regional Public Center for Internet Technologies).

The conference was devoted to the prevention of crimes committed against minors on the Internet. Mr. Vorobyev in his presentation, Coordinated Activities of the Internet Industry to Promote Safe Digital Space, said that developing the Internet is not only about dealing with threats, but also about creating high-quality educational resources.

“The Positive Content competition, which has been supported by the Coordination Center since 2009, encourages the creation of educational websites for children and youth,” he said. “Over the past six years, this initiative has turned into a bigger movement. It is now a nationwide contest, which showcases web resources created in various regions of Russia. Since 2014, the competition has become a national leg of the pan-European award Best Content for Kids. Positive Content not only awards well-deserved prizes, but also helps such websites gain popularity. This is our contribution to the development of the web that will serve our children, our contribution to the future.”

The conference was attended by representatives of law enforcement bodies from the Russian Federation, Australia, UK, USA, Germany, Serbia, Argentina, the Netherlands and Canada. Participants also included representatives of national institutions that support law enforcement authorities in cyberspace from Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, the USA, Kazakhstan, Germany and Belarus. Representatives of the Russian National Center for Safe Internet, ROCIT, the Russian Association for Electronic Communications (RAEC), and other public and nonprofit organizations also spoke at the conference.
