Coordination Center to present awards to intellectual property rights contest participants

The Coordination Center for TLD RU will co-organize the First All-Russian IP & IT Law Contest, which is hosted by the Kutafin Moscow State Law University.

Applications are accepted until February 1, 2016. All projects submitted to the contest will be reviewed by a jury. The results will be summed up and winners will receive their awards on February 26 and 27 at the International Legal Forum titled, “Legal Protection of Intellectual Property: Theory and Practice.”

Participants include prospective students, law students and postgraduate students, as well as young lawyers practicing in these particular areas of law. The projects will focus on the Internet and privacy issues, the right to a domain name, e-commerce legal regulations, and striking a balance between copyright protection and using copyrighted materials.

The jury will include teachers of the Kutafin Moscow State Law University, which is one of Moscow’s most prestigious and oldest law schools and legal practitioners from various industries. “Such contests are good for supporting professional training. The contest will provide encouragement to gifted young people, while industry professionals will get the opportunity to take a closer look at the participants and form a 'legal talent pool' for future professional cooperation,” Sergei Kopylov, Deputy Director for Legal Affairs of the Coordination Center for TLD RU, said on his participation in the jury.

The contest is sponsored by the Ministry of Communications and Mass Media, State Duma Committee for Information Policy, Information Technology and Communications, and the ICC Russia’s Intellectual Property Commission.

More information about the contest is available on its website.
