The 10th Internet Governance Forum (IGF) meeting, titled Evolution of Internet Governance: Empowering Sustainable Development, was held in João Pessoa, Brazil, on November 10-13, 2015. The IGF 2015 focused on cybersecurity, enhancing multistakeholder cooperation, Internet and human rights, Internet economy, inclusiveness and diversity.
Rashid Ismailov, Deputy Minister of Communication and Mass Media, said at the meeting that our modern information society faces several tasks: to bridge the deep development divide between countries; and, to protect information security and user privacy on the Internet. Ismailov also urged the meeting participants to create an intergovernmental framework to tackle international Internet-related public policy issues.
A delegation from the Coordination Center for TLD RU/РФ (Center) attended the IGF 2015. The Center delegates participated in debates, meetings and roundtables that focused on international cooperation for coordinating global Internet development with due respect for the interests of the key parties. The Center delegates also reported on the Russian Internet Governance Forum (RIGF), which they organized, and shared their experience with colleagues from the countries that hold similar national or local conferences.
The IGF is a multi-stakeholder platform for discussing Internet-related public policy issues.
