The 54th ICANN meeting in Dublin where the key questions of further Internet development were discussed came to the end last week. Special attention was paid to the growth and development of IDN-domains, there are 104 ones in the domain space. Several conference meetings, where the Coordination Center Deputy Director Irina Danelia participated, were devoted to this subject.
At the meeting devoted to Universal Acceptance problem, participants discussed the difficulties met by new zone registrars. Top-level domains using national alphabets face special difficulties, as well as .РФ does. First of all, it is about the problem with emails in these domains, and also about lack of IDN domain support, as well as it happen with the new domains in Latin from some browsers.
The start of solving IDN domain email problems became the breakthrough of the 54th ICANN meeting. Coordination Universal Acceptance Steering Group representatives reported that experts and developers have carried out the first email tests on national alphabets which revealed a number of questions, not included in RFC. In the first quarter of 2016, UASG plans to hold a meeting of software developers, who deal with this problem, in the Silicon Valley.
"We have been discussing the problem of absence of mails with usage of non-Latin national alphabets for several years. We are glad that the Universal Acceptance problem begins to move at last. A number of solutions which will be proposed to developers is prepared. This, I think, will give an additional impetus to the Internet space development", - Irina Danelia told after the meeting.
Besides, the Coordination Center Deputy Director participated in ccNSO meetings where a number of important questions concerning the gTLD development was discussed: DNSSEC development, interaction experience with public authorities, legislation in the domain area. ccNSO meetings give a chance to managers of different national domains to communicate among themselves and to exchange practical experience in domain area.
