On June 4, 2015 the regular meeting of the Coordination Center for TLD RU/РФ Council took place. At the meeting Director at Coordination Center Andrei Kolesnikov presented the annual report on the activities of the Coordination Center in 2014.
By the end of 2014 there were 4,859,304 domain names registered in .RU domain and 835,181 domain names registered in .РФ. Domain .РФ remains the largest IDN on the Internet.
The Center continues to interact with organizations that specialize in determination of violations on the Internet. Cooperation in the area of information security and the fight against malicious resources have led to a decrease in a number of malicious threats and the time to detect them has shortened. For instance, Group-IB reported that the number of phishing incidents in 2014 had lowered by 58% compared to 2013. Also the Center and its partners developed procedures to actively cooperate and quickly eliminate malicious domains that were used to administer botnets.
During the period under report the Coordination Center managed to fulfill the scheduled work plan within the budget approved by the Council and implemented all assigned tasks.
The Council has unanimously approved the 2014 report on the Coordination Center activities. The annual report will soon be published on the website.
In addition, the Council has approved Coordination Center director’s appointment of the head of legal department Sergey Kopylov to a post of Deputy Director of Legal Affairs.
