Andrei Kolesnikov presented the award for the development of RuNet infrastructure

On November 25, 2014 XI ceremony of the National award for the contribution to the development of Russian segment of the Internet “RuNet Awards 2014” took place in Moscow. Russian Association for Electronic Communications (RAEC) and Coordination Center for TLD RU/РФ were the organizers of the event. Financial support was provided by Federal Agency on Press and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation.

Coordination Center for the TLD RU/РФ many times has been co-organizer of the RuNet Awards. Company’s experts for many years have been members of the Expert Club and Expert Advisory board of the RuNet awards. They also participate in the formation of the list of the winners.

On the XI awards ceremony Coordination Center for TLD RU/РФ created a special nomination “For the contribution to the development of Russian Internet infrastructure”. The nominees are companies that played the most significant part in the development of the physical basis of the Russian segment of the Internet. Winners of the award were the three pillars of domestic Internet: MSK-IX, RIPN and Rostelecom. Famous RuNet awards statuettes were received by Elena Voronina (MSK-IX), Olga Pestereva (Rostelecom) and Marat Guriev (RIPN).

When giving awards to the laureates of the award “For contribution to the development of Russian Internet infrastructure”, CEO at the Coordination Center Andrei Kolesnikov pointed out that Internet is made up of many parts, but the first one among them is infrastructure. “Companies that won in our special nomination do not just put wires. They built infrastructure of Internet access in our country. And their contribution to the bridging the digital divide is huge,” said Andrei Kolesnikov.
