On May 15, 2014, the Council of the Coordination Center for TLD RU/РФ held its annual meeting, during which CEO Andrei Kolesnikov presented a report on the Coordination Center’s performance in 2013.
In 2013, the .RU domain outperformed all major European domains by adding 651,716 domain names and bringing the total number of registered domain names to 4,912,117 as of December 31, 2013, up 15.3% year-on-year.
The .РФ domain remains the biggest IDN domain in the world, with a total of 811,787 domain names as of the end of 2013, up 4.1% compared to 2012. Last year, the .РФ domain added 31,703 domain names.
In 2013, the Coordination Center for TLD RU/РФ remained committed to promoting joint efforts with organizations combating cybercrime. Of such organizations, Group-IB was the most proactive, having helped detect and suspend over 2,000 malicious Russian domains. The Coordination Center also continues to develop its unique research platform for detecting and monitoring malicious resources, which was used to launch the Netoscope.ru news and analytics portal in September 2013.
The Coordination Center fulfilled all its objectives for 2013 in line with the budget approved by the Council.
The Council unanimously approved the Coordination Center’s performance report for 2013. It will be published on its website in the near future.
