49th ICANN conference officially opened today in Singapore. It will last until Friday, and the key issues to be discussed are challenges of Internet globalization and its multistakeholder management. These subjects have become particularly relevant after the recent U.S. government decision not to participate in the DNS root zone control.
On Wednesday, March 26th, Andrei Kolesnikov, director of Coordination Center for TLD RU, will give a report on the conference.
On the first day of the conference delegation of new top-level domains, namely .NYC, .Cologne, .trade, .机构 (Chinese for «agencies, organizations»), .webcam, etc, was announced. Thus, the number of delegated new top-level domains has exceeded 175.
