Russia's Intellectual Rights Court reviews domain dispute cases to help in future policing

The Coordination Center expert took part in the Intellectual Rights Court's Scientific Advisory Council workgroup meeting. The workgroup members have been discussing the latest six cases related to the domain names which were reviewed by the Intellectual Rights Court as an appellate court. Sergey Kopylov, head of the law department of the Coordination Center, took part in the meeting as the council member.

Kopylov reports that the group has been discussing the issues related to the judicial practice in domain dispute cases, as well as the aspects of applying international conventions and Russian laws to such cases. At the moment, the council is working on recommendations to help the judicial system understand the criteria of judging the domain name owners' actions, whether in good faith or not; this, in turn, would help develop an unified approach to the measures applied as a result of solving the domain dispute.
