2,187 malicious domains suspended in 2013 in Russia

In December 2013, Group-IB, an Internet security company, has filed 91 suspension notices to Russian registrars, resulting in 83 suspended domain names. EIght domain names remain delegated, as the owners have removed the malware that could lead to suspension; these were unsuspended by a special request made by CERT-GIB.

The most part of the domains under surveillance was allegedly engaged in phishing activities (57%), while the websites spreading malware have constituted the smallest part of the malicious domains (13%).

Overall, Group-IB has filed 2,315 suspension notices in 2013, resulting in 2187 suspensions and 114 domain names unblocked by CERT-GIB request.

Together with the Coordination Center, Group-IB is engaged in search for malicious activities in Russian domains, .RU and .РФ. Group-IB's competencies include tackling criminal activities in Russian domains, such as phishing, unauthorized access, spreading malware and controlling botnets. Any Internet user can help making the Internet safer by reporting unsolicited activities to any of the organizations listed at the Coordination Center website.
