The Coordination Center experts have met with those of CNNIC, China's ccTLD registry. At a working meeting with Cherie Chen and Hong Zhang from CNNIC's business development unit, the Russian and Chinese registry experts have discussed a number of topical industry issues, shared insights and spoke on joint opportunities in making the Internet safer.
The registries discussed registrar relations, as well as pros and cons of domain name registration terms and conditions in Russia and China. The Chinese registry expressed profound interest in the success of Russia's IDN ccTLD, .РФ, as well as in the marketing activities to facilitate it. Russian experts were interested in details of registration and renewal terms and conditions, as well as in security issues.
Andrei Kolesnikov, the Coordination Center director, presented Netoscope, a newly launched and widely acclaimed pioneering project to make the Internet a safer place. Leading Internet companies in Russia now contribute to the project by providing information about malicious websites.
Cherie Chen, head of business development division at CNNIC, shared information on Chinese anti-phishing alliance created to lower phishing risks for users. This take on user safety has been very successful for CNNIC, and the Chinese registry's experience in tackling the cybercrime could prove useful for Russia.
