Internet Day is celebrated today in Russia. September, 30, 1998 company IT Infoart Stars firstly counted all Russian Internet users: it turned out that just 1 mln of Russian citizens had access to Internet. Additionally, according to network research data of that time in 1998 Runet counted about 20 thousand web-sites and a little more than 5000 second-level domain names in domains .RU and .SU.
For today there are three domain zones functioning in Runet: .RU, .РФ and .SU, and the number of domain names is coming up to 6 million. In .RU domain for the moment there are 4806984 domain names registered, out of which 92.4% are delegated. .РФ domain counts 822971 domain names, 76.8% are delegated. In .SU zone there are 123415 domain names. .RU domain is one of the largest country domains in the word, and .РФ domain is in the top 20 European national domains.
