All-Russian sites for children, teenagers and youngsters “Positive Content” contest and World Syndicate W3C combined their efforts in creating conditions for Internet access to disabled people. For the effect W3C established a special prize “Accessible Site” in the contest. In the frames of this nomination all the prizewinners of this year will be checked for matching to the standard of resources for disabled people (WCAG 2.0) accessibility. A site which corresponds these standards mostly will be marked by a special prize and diploma from W3C as well as title “ The most accessible site in Positive Runet”..
The accessibility of such source of information as Internet-resources is one of the most important IT-technologies development aspects for today. In the age of informational society it is important to remember how daily and sometimes irreplaceable these technologies have become. Although the research show that not all user categories can have free access to them, and for some of them because of their health Internet becomes if not the only but the widest window into the world. And to provide this possibility for disabled people, in most cases developers and Internet-providers just need to maintain the Guidance on web-resources availability provision, developed by World Syndicate W3C.
In the plans of the organizational committee of “Positive Content” and W3C is not only to develop a special nomination for the next contest which starts in summer of 2014, but also to widen the collaboration: to hold a number of events explaining the essence of the web-resources accessibility and WCAG 2.0 standard principles.
We remind that the “Positive Content 2013” sites contest started June, 1st, on International Children’s Day. The contest organizers are RU-CENTER company, the Foundation fot nternet Development, ROCIT and Coordination Center for TLD RU.
