Winners of the Dot-Journalism Award have been announced

The Dot-Journalism award ceremony took part at RIF+KIB conference. The annual award is open to any journalist covering domaining industry and top-level domains.

The award and the competition were hosted by RU-CENTER, Russian Association for Electronic Communications (RAEC) and the Coordination Center for TLD RU/РФ.

While the domaining industry is a relatively narrow subject, there were 52 applicants for the Dot-Journalism award; later, 18 authors were shortlisted. 22 more applications were not reviewed as they didn't satisfy the contest requirements.

Nominees included authors from Russia, Germany, Latvia, Ukraine, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.

The winners are:

  • Domaining Series (best series of reports):
    1st place: Vladimir Zykov (Izvestia),
    2nd place: Dmitry Filonov (RIA Novosti);

  • Domaining Analytics (best analytics):
    1st place: Yury Polyak (Information Resources of Russia) and Anton Blagoveschensky (Rossiyskaya Gazeta);
    2nd place: Igor Korolev (CNews);

  • Domains on the Screen (best TV report)
    Polina Krikun (Vesti.RU);

  • Domaining Podcast (best radio show):
    Alexander Plushev (Echo of Moscow);

  • Dot Event (reports covering domaining events):
    Anna Osipova (HeadLine.kz);

  • Young Reporter (best material by a journalist under 25):
    Marjana Omarova (Youth Committee of the Dagestan Republic);

  • Beyond Borders (best journalist piece in Russian published in media abroad):
    Pawel Bykowski (Deutsche Welle), Germany


In the Voice of the Regions nomination (best piece from the regional media), the award went to Jangishi Gandisov (Dagestanskaya Pravda), and Sergey Shumakov (Chelyabinsk, creozot.livejournal.com) has received an award for the best blog entry from the regional bloggers).

The Coordination Center for TLD RU/РФ has also awarded special prizes to Marina Purim (Argumenty and Fakty) and Vladimir Zykov (Izvestia).

Next Dot-Journalism award will be open for applications in Autumn 2013.
