Marina Nikerova: "ENOG is a very distinctive event for technology professionals"

On October 23, ENOG 4 (Eurasia Network Operators’ Group) has kicked off in Moscow, Russia. This year, the major discussions revolved around Internet connectivity, network security and IPv6 deployment. The event is hosted by RIPE NCC and the Technical Center of Internet, and supported by the Coordination Center for TLD RU/РФ.

Andrey Robachevsky, chairman of ENOG 4 Program Committee, opened the conference, noting the importance of ENOG to further develop the global network in the entire Eurasian region. Rob Blokzijl, RIPE NCC, paid special attention to one of the major topics of ENOG, pointing out that IPv6 deployment is a task of utmost importance in the nearest years: "The days of IPv4 are over, and if you want to develop your business further, put some efforts into using IPv6", Blokzijl says.

Marina Nikerova, the Technical Center of Internet, stressed the fact that ENOG became a popular and established forum that gathers professionals from various countries. The Technical Center of Internet along with the Coordination Center were among those who initiated ENOG meetings in 2010, Nikerova informed the public. "Together, we are able to form a very distinctive event for technology professionals, and we're able to provide innovative, comprehensive solutions as well as influence global Internet development and infrastructure policies".

Igor Milashevsky, Ministry of Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation, noted that the Internet industry is not hindered by excessive regulations, while the government highly values the activities of the technology professionals community as well as the solutions that are elaborated at the professional meetings. He also stressed the crucial part of the professional community in deploying and developing IPv6.

ENOG is the regional forum in which Internet experts concerned with the core operational issues of the Internet can share knowledge and expertise on issues unique to the Russian Federation, CIS and Eastern Europe. The conference is a new way of communicating and creating unified approaches among technology professionals.
