On October 17, the V Russian Internet Week (RIW-2012) has started in Moscow, Russia. The Coordination Center is taking an active part in Russia's most important Internet event of the year, both as an exhibitor and a partner of RIW.
Nikolay Nikiforov, the Minister of Communications and Mass Media of Russian Federation, has noted the extensive growth of the Internet in Russia in the latest years, saying that for Russian economy, the Internet is a "point of sound growth". Nikiforov also thinks that the Internet-related industries create jobs for the young professionals. The security in the Internet, according to the Minister of Communications, is of utmost importance: Nikiforov points out that the Internet should be free of borders for adults, but safe for kids and youth.
The Minister of Communications has also visited the booth of the Coordination Center for TLD RU/РФ, marking the importance of the Coordination Center's work to further evolve the Internet in Russia. Nikiforov has noted the Coordination Center's activities to promote Russia's national domains, offering a number of initiatives and promising to further support .РФ, the first Cyrillic domain in the Internet, from the government side.
This year, the Coordination Center's booth at RIW has also hosted five accredited registrars, with each of these having an ample set of activities for RIW attendees.
