Technical Center of Internet deployed DNSSEC protocol in domain .SU

On 18 October Technical Center of Internet signed domain zone .SU with DNSSEC key.

DNSSEC's importance lies in the fact that this technology enables to solve crucial security issues, in particular, usage of DNS addressing system. Usage of DNSSEC protocol allows reducing the risk of the so called “IP spoofing”, which may harm the Internet users. DNSSEC protocol ensures the integrity of the request from the user to the DNS path node and reliability of the node’s response.

As of September 2011, there are 60-plus top-level domains in the root addressing zone of the Internet (50 ccTLDs and 11 gTLDs) signed with DNSSEC and thus ensuring the chain of trust. Specifically, zone .COM, which is the largest zone in the Internet boasting of 90-plus million domains, is signed with DNSSEC key.

Root zone .SU comprise about 90,000 second-level domain names. Next year, Technical Center of Internet plans to sign root national domains .РФ and .RU with DNSSEC.
