Сoordination Сenter to launch an educational online game “Explore Internet – Govern It”

In September 2011, Coordination Center is to launch a new project. It is an  educational online game “Explore Internet – Govern It”. The game aims at upgrading the internet use skills of the younger generation. The game was designed by Yaroslavl provider, Silvercom, and Yaroslavl Center of Telecom and Information Systems in Education (YarTSISO), which previously successfully cooperated with Coordination Center regarding the youth audience.

CC has always focused not only on domain policy regulation and tackling technical issues but on support of a host of various social projects aiming at the Internet’s development and its promotion among the at-large community and, primarily, youngsters. Today, it is becoming clear that this audience rapidly increases and the industry faces another challenge – that is, to upgrade new Internet users’ skills and convert them into conscious and responsible users.

The launch of “Explore Internet – Govern It” will allow getting children and teenagers, in an easy and playful way, interested in opportunities of the World Wide Web and provide basic knowledge about the structure and functioning of the Internet.

In the e-quiz, users will be invited to explore basic information about the structure of the global network and answer questions. By answering correctly, the quiz panelists will be awarded points and earn bonuses while learning and taking themselves to next levels. The final score can be published in a table of scores, thus allowing panelists to compete with their countrymen.

In the short run, it is planned to hold a contest among Moscow students with prizes and diplomas from CC. Also, the work is underway to integrate the game into social networks VKontakte and Facebook.
