The first ENOG (Eurasian Network Operators Group) Regional Meeting will take place on 6-8 June at the Marriott Grand Hotel in Moscow, Russia. The meeting will be co-hosted by RIPE NCC and the Coordination Center for TLD RU. MSK-IX and Technical Center of Internet will be its key sponsors.
The agreement on establishment of the first ENOG was reached at the 7th RIPE NCC Regional Meeting in October 2010 in Moscow. Representatives of Internet providers from Europe, the Baltic States, Scandinavia, Russia, Ukraine, and Moldova launched ENOG. Currently work is under way to ensure representation of the Caucasus and Asia. In 2011, the RIPE Regional Meeting will be held for the first time in an enlarged format as the first ENOG Forum.
As many as 300 plus representatives of Internet industry from over 20 countries of the continent have confirmed their participation in the meeting. They are the ones who pay much attention to development of national Internet development policies and the Internet technical policy of the network.
Eurasian Forum of Internet operators will become a new platform for interaction and development of common approaches by the Internet technical experts to ensure stability of the Internet infrastructure, enhancement of the global Internet connectivity and accessibility of Internet services to the public at-large. The Forum will deal not only with provision of technical connectivity, but building a coherent governance policy and organization of resources, including addressing, domain space, channels and nodes.
The meeting program includes plenary sessions, panel discussions, parallel sessions and training sessions for technical experts, which will deal with the current Internet resources allocation policy, and changes in practice of their usage. The World Ipv6 Day will form a separate theme of the meeting. The World Ipv6 Day on 8 June will concur with the last day of the meeting.
Attendance is free and the event is open to everyone interested in these issues. The CC for TLD RU’s support of the Eurasian Internet operators’ event is its charter activity, which is aimed at implementation of its core mission: development of the Internet space in Russia and protection of Internet users’ interests.
