St. Petersburg hosted a roundtable “Safe environment for children”

On 27 November, in the framework of the 1st All-Russia Forum “Protection of Children. Modernization of the Government Family Policy”, the city of St. Petersburg hosted a roundtable "Safe Envioronment for Children (Education, Culture, Communication and Information)", with Julia Ovchinnikova a member of the CC’s Board, as a contributor. The main theme of the event - safety of children in the information-oriented society – has always formed a staple of numerous social and educational programs held by the Coordination Center.

In her presentation “The CC’s Role in Formation of ‘Safe Internet’ Policy in the Professional Internet Environment” Ms. Ovchinnikova shared with the roundtable participants the CC’s vast experience in this sphere. In particular, she made an update on recent developments- that is, the Yarovlavl conference «The Internet and the School. Generation .РФ» and the “Positive Content” competition.

The roundtable participants agreed that currently the Coordination Center is a key civil society organization in Runet and indeed shapes the landscape of the tomorrow’s Internet. “The Russian national registry is a model example of information society services the government is so keen to see around,” that was how Alexey Demidov, the roundtable moderator assessed the CC’s role in shaping and developing a safer Internet.
