The 5th International Internet Governance Forum, (IGF) to open on 14 September 2010. The event’s objective is to organize a dialogue among stakeholders interested in development, stability and security of cyberspace.
Around 2000 attendees from over 100 countries will take part in it. The Forum boasts of having channels in social networks: Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, Flickr. There will be over 100 panel sessions, seminars, meetings and other events.
The Russian delegation is no novice to the International IGF. However, this year for the first time ever a special session will be allocated for our colleagues’ presentations . On 16 September 2010, the 3rd day of the Forum, the CC’s representatives, Ms. Julia Ovchinnikova, Mr. Leonid Todorov and Mr. Andrey Romanov will brief their international colleagues on the Russian First Internet Governance Forum held in Moscow in May 2010. The Russian Forum got together key representatives of the Russian society who wield real power in the development of the Internet, as well as telecommunications sector, media-business and civil society. The Russian Forum became a groundbreaking event of this sort not only for Russia but Eastern Europe as well. Forum’s identity with the “family” of global IGFs has played a great role. The Russian Forum got together over 500 attendees including 100 ones from overseas.
IGF constitutes an open platform for all the Internet-community stakeholders; one can participate in discussions and follow panel sessions directly from Moscow by way of choosing one of convenient channels on the IGF website. The IGF’s official language is English
