On 13-17 September 2010 Bulgaria hosted the 2nd International meeting “Russia-Balkans: Information cooperation and information security” (INFOFORUM-Bulgaria). The meeting got together over 140 delegates from Russia and the Balkan countries. Participants discussed a wide array of issues- from information cooperation to combat against cyber crime.
The meeting was opened by Mr. Parvan Rusinov, deputy Minister of transport, information technologies and communications of the Republic of Bulgaria. On the Russian side welcoming address and plenary presentations were given by: Mr. M.I. Grishankov, first deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on security; Mr. B.N. Miroshnikov, head of BSTM of the RF MIA, four-star general; Mr. A.M. Spiridonov, deputy head of Rosinfomonitoring; Ms. E.K. Volchinskaya, leading councilor to the State Duma Committee on security; Mr. A.V. Krutskikh, deputy director of the New challenges and threat department of the RF MFR, among others.
Ms. Alla Farafonova, the CC’s analyst delivered a presentation “ccTLD .РФ: first operating results”. In her presentation Ms. Farafonova focused on the record of creation and launch of the first Cyrillic ccTLD .РФ in Russia and reckoned up on the priority registration period in ccTLD .РФ. The Conference participants were provided with up-to-date statistical information on the state of affairs in ccTLD .РФ, including data on domain names delegation in this zone which vividly demonstrated great demand for the Cyrillic domain in Russia: 35% of domain names in ccTLD .РФ has been already delegated and successfully operate. “Our operational experience suggests that qualified lawyers in the field of patent law and fine linguists should contribute to the launch of a new IDN TLD,” –underscored Ms. Farafonova. – “And above all, one should never be afraid of acknowledging one’s mistakes and correct them in a timely manner.” Ms. Farafonova wound up her presentation by sharing with attendees the CC’s short-term plans on development and promotion of ccTLD .РФ in Russia.
