The Coordination Center for ccTLD .RU informs about the global accessibility of all the root DNS servers in zones RU, SU, and РФ in the IPv6 addressing

Experts of the Moscow Internet Exchange have completed the equipment upgrade and improvement of administrative procedures required for the full-fledged support of IPv6.

The root zones of ccTLDs RU, РФ and SU have been deployed and are supported on the distributing network node RIPNDNS in the framework of cooperation between MSK-IX and JSC “The Technical Center of Internet” (footnote).

Owing to the upgrade, the global access has now been ensured to the root DNS servers of zones RU, SU and РФ with the use of protocol IPv6.

The mounting shortage of the address space makes the launch of IPv6 an urgent challenge, and   operators, manufacturers of equipment and users have already started tackling it. Russian operators also start using IPv6 in their networks in the course of testing of advanced technologies.

Application of IPv6 expands capacities of modern network devices and applets, resolves the scaling and security problems generated by the use of IPv4.
