Commissioned by the Coordination Center for ccTLD .RU, from 5 through 11 April 3DNews company was running a custom-made survey on its web site on the subject of “Registration of domain name in zone .РФ”. As many as 5,750 (22.85%) out of a total of nearly 25,000 respondents gave a positive answer to the question “Are you going to register domain name in zone .РФ?”
Respondents were offered three closed questions:
- Are you going to register a domain name in zone .РФ?
- What do you need a Cyrillic domain for?
- Have you got domain name (s) in ccTLD .RU?
It is worth noting that a third of respondents (30%) already have gotten a minimum of one registered domain name in ccTLD .RU.
Survey findings once again proved there is a keen interest in the new Cyrillic domain and a willingness to complement domain names in ccTLD .RU with those in ccTLD .РФ.
An extra question aimed at justifying wish to have a domain name in ccTLD .РФ has shown that just 40% of respondents have a clear idea about the purpose of the new domain name registration. A substantial fraction of respondents (16.1%) will register domain name in zone .РФ in order to create a new site. The second most popular answer (14.19%) was “for rerouting to the already existing site”. The remaining 60% remain undecided as yet.
