On its meeting on 16 June 2010, the ccTLD .RU Board ruled to have ccTLD .RU apply for membership with the Asia-Pacific Association of Top-Level Domains (APTLD). The CC holds membership in a number of international organizations including the Internet Country Code Top Level Domains Registries (CENTR). However, Russia lies both in Europe and Asia, and it is crucial for the Russian Internet community to follow all the processes taking place in the global Internet and in various local registries. These reasons underpinned the above Board’s ruling.
