Reports of a sales deal involving AI.com first emerged last year. It was immediately obvious that the deal would be extraordinary. The precise value of the domain was revealed only recently, and it is truly impressive. Domain Name Wire reports that the domain has changed owners for an amount equivalent to $70 million. Larry Fischer who brokered the sale confirmed the news.
AI.com was purchased by prominent Polish entrepreneur Kris Marszalek, founder and CEO of one of the world’s largest and most prominent cryptocurrency platforms, Crypto.com. Marszalek has announced AI.com as a step towards creating Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) by developing a network of autonomous and self-improving AI agents that are capable of solving real-world problems in the interests of humanity. The project’s advertising featured in the Super Bowl TV commercials last weekend.
Commercial slots during the annual National Football League championship finals are the most expensive on television anywhere in the world but, apparently, money is not an issue for Kris Marszalek. The AI.com deal became the largest in the domain industry’s history. It is more than twice as expensive as the previous record set in 2019 when Voice.com was sold for $30 million.
