Highly liquid domain sales continue to decline

The report by GGRG focuses on the liquid domain name market and its key statistics for the fourth quarter of 2025. “Liquid” domains refer to 614,928 domains in .COM consisting of two to five characters (combinations of letters and digits). As before, the overview draws from the data provided by NameBio and Escrow.com.

Notably, highly liquid domains continue to show a decline although at a slower rate – at least, this is true for publicly disclosed deals. While in Q3 2025, the deal volume plunged by 81.61% compared to Q2, the decrease slowed to 37.96% in Q4. The total worth of all the deals with publicly available details equals $2,704,620.

Despite showing growth in the previous quarter, deals involving highly liquid domains via Escrow.com are slightly down, by just 2.36%. Their total worth in Q4 was $14,127,172, making total highly liquid domain sales $16,831,792 compared to $18,828,437 in Q3.

No significant changes in the structure or dynamics of the deals have been recorded except for one: the statistics indicate a certain upsurge in deals involving domain names that consist of four or five digits. This category of domains has been in decline for quite some time due to an abrupt cooling of the Chinese market, where numeric domains are particularly popular. It remains to be seen if the trend persists.
